Thank you for initial responses. We are quite interested which institutions have actually experienced these failures.
It would be most helpful if you provide the name of the institution, total number of Giraffe incubators, how many of those experienced this cracked (or separated) hoods and approximately when they occurred.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

We had the same here, not on the giraffe but on a compediters equipment.
Tracked the brittleness of the plastic to be a combination of the heat and the cleaning agent used. Covers were replaced free of charge and since the correct cleaning agent has been used it has not been a problem.

Any idea what the correct cleaning agent actually is, Billy?

Its been a while since receiving your welcome response, albeit no reply to the follow-up question as to the appropriate cleaning agent and concentration, if any.
Thank you in advance.

That's the way it is on here occasionally; you just need to patiently tease out the solution you seek. Only sometimes it can take a while.

Cannot seem to find a way of attaching the PDF. This is from another manufacturers documentation. The user manual should heve the cleaning instructions.
To clean the plastic use detergent based cleaning agent maximum 2% in water.
Do not use hydroxides, hypochlorites, peroxides, gluteraldehyde or cleaning agents over 30% alcohol.

If you have a .pdf file to share, Billy, you could always send it to Huw as an email attachment. I'm sure he would be happy to "pin it up", as it were.

Hi Billy, instead of replying via the 'Quick Reply' box at the bottom of each page, try using the 'Reply' link or 'Switch to Full Reply Screen' which gives you the advanced editor along with the Poll manager and File manager.
The File manager will allow you to upload the pdf. Failing that, as Geoff suggests, please email it to me.

As I may have mentioned before, Huw ... why not think about getting rid of the Quick Reply feature altogether?

My feeling is that people are more inclined to answer if there is a 'textarea' waiting for them to type into.
