I have a client who has lost the locking ring from a Logiq E R7, does anybody know where I can find one without ordering the complete trackball?

I tried this in the past - you can try Amazon or Ebay - otherwise its a complete and pricey tracker ball kit.

Depends what's likely to cost the least:-

1) Time spent hunting down:-
- someone who can supply just the (identical) ring
- a junked laptop with an identical trackball ring
- a complete junked Logiq E

2) Fabricating a replacement ring
- but will it "lock"?
- will it ever look right?

3) Modifying a similar (same size etc.) ring
- see above
- luck in finding a suitable (similar) ring

4) Buying the new part
- as has been mentioned, it would probably be the "complete assembly"

Strange that it was "lost", though ... placed to one side during cleaning, we presume ... then, er, lost.

Thanks for your time guys, I suspect it was taken apart for cleaning then lost - system was apparently brand new which makes me wonder why it needed cleaned. Perhaps it will teach NHS service providers a lesson not to buy grey goods with little or no warranty cover.

Or "bored", just fiddling about ... or some "other" reason. whistle

Careless, at best; so what about accountability? How will "lessons" ever be "learned" unless someone gets hit (in the pocket)?

And "grey goods"? Don't "NHS service providers" (whoever they are) follow the same equipment procurement and acceptance procedures as the "proper" NHS, then? think

Some might do but others buy refurbished equipment from the USA and import via family members to avoid VAT. When the equipment arrives they have no idea what software level the machine comes with but as long as it has DICOM basic and says GE thats all they worry about. As far as I can see all that is checked is that the equipment used is less than 5 years old and refurbished seems to count as new regardless of when the equipment was originally built.

As for safety I had two mains leads with sparks coming out through the insulation which strangely passed the IEC test on my Rigel 288 - apparently it had been like that for some time and the staff didn't like using it!!! Suffice to say I cut the plugs off both ends and disposed of them.
