That may have been the case two years ago, but there's now some good news ... I hear that the 3rd Edition of "The Art of Electronics" may be currently available as a 30 Meg .pdf download on line.

Not sure how long that will be the case ... but check it out on Google! smile

It's the seventh printing (2016) with corrections (allegedly).

Does anyone else remember the revered names "Shepherd, Morton and Spence"? think

Their meaty tome ("Higher Electrical Engineering" - 2nd Edition, 1970) is available on line these days as a 26 Meg .pdf.

Looks like a handy piece of kit for the Biomed's toolkit:- the Mooshimeter. smile

(it's almost worth getting a Smartphone for)

Mooshimeter review (.pdf).

How many shopping days before Christmas?

I have found this site useful ... as it pulls up not only the main topic asked for, but a good selection of related ones as well. smile

For example:- biomedical engineering ... and, er, metadyne (why not?).

Clever. 10/10. shades

Another aggregator site pulling content from wiki and killing off the smaller sites.
...and people ask why forums aren't used so much any more.

Still useful when doing a bit of "research", though (as I was with "metadyne"). smile

An "aggregator"? OK ... but why should they be killing off the smaller (specialist?) sites? huh

For what it's worth, I reckon that forums (like this one) may not be used so much these days for reasons such as:-

1) A lot of the original (older?) users have now "moved in"
2) There are a lot more sites to visit (and spend time on) these days

And anyway ... does it matter? Some folk "keep the faith", and some (probably many more) don't. frown

Yet another interesting site (and forum):- Automated Home

Meanwhile, does anyone know about availability of a UK version of this useful piece of kit? think

Apparently, this one is very popular with radio hams who run smart repeaters or packet radio networks hidden on *mountain-tops and what-have-you. smile

* I wonder how they engineer the mains power supply?
