Hi, not sure if this the right section, but , with the trouble we are having recruiting EBME techs, does anyone out their receive RRP ? Just trying to justify it for our department , we are on the highly expensive sunny south coast, and never seem to get any quality applicants for band 5 or 6 posts. Just wondering if offering a bit of filthy lucre would lure engineers away from their existing jobs. Has any one tried this and been successful?

A "bung" you mean? whistle

Do you really feel that will attract "quality" applicants?

I would have thought that a move to the "sunny south coast" would have been sufficient incentive in itself.

But "highly expensive"? Where are you, Torbay (high water rates there)? smile

Surely the cost of living cannot be higher than it is in London (for example)?

If I were you I would sell the idea on the basis of Quality of Life!

It is becoming a job in itself to locate jobs for our sector. There is more chance of finding one on a recruitment agency rather than an NHS site. I think its due to us not having standardized job titles biotechs, biomeds, ebme engineers etc, this means we are further from fitting into a tailor made box to select. I am currently looking for a band 6 and finding out about jobs through word of mouth and networking, the one line i am hearing more and more is that previous attempts to lure band 4, 5 and 6s has been unsuccessful. One advert i have seen for a band 5 wanted a half hour demonstration, that would put me off straight away. Where abouts on the sunny south coast are you? I might be interested.

I used to be registered with a particular job-search site, and it dished out results via email almost every day!

You just need to be thoughtful when setting up your selection keywords:-

Medical+equipment+engineering for example.

Plus a few others, of course; but not too many, else you'll get swamped with dozens of results every day!

But meanwhile:-
