Hi, would anyone know if it is OK to perform a standard Electrical Safety Test on this device?
I seem to remember some one telling me that testing this may cause some damage.

It depends what you mean by a "standard" Electrical Safety Test - the one for kettles? think

If you follow the appropriate Standard for equipment of this type, then all should be well.

I believe you need to look out for BS EN 61010-1. smile

Electrical Safety Testing to that Standard is simple (and limited) ... all you need is one of these* (see Appendix C at page 32).

* Other suitable testers may be available.
