Billy, do your blue light issues only appear when the pump is in the the docking station? The reason I ask is we have an infusomat here that after I did a P2 connector replacemant (one of many I hasten to add with no problems previous) seemed to work fine until it was placed in a docking station to charge the battery, when the blue light continually flashed. After speaking to Braun, apparently the station talks to the pump when it is first put in and gets its serial number. If it doesn't get the number it keeps trying. They suggested possible damage to the board during the P2 replacement and would require a maind board.

Another very useful feature, then. I can't help wondering why the docking station needs to read the serial number, and if it has to for some reason (some sort of event logging, perhaps), why the problem described can't be overcome by re-entering the number, or something relatively straight forward like that.

What use is all this "clever" stuff?

(apart from generating after-sales revenue, that is)

To be fair, Braun did suggest the first/only thing to try was rewriting the serial number to the pump via the software tool but to no avail.

The light is on all the time, if it powered up on its own battery, external power supply or the space unit. This is now our third here. One fixed under warranty, one fixed by BBraun for about £300 and this one that will be fixed here for the price of the board.

Just dont like the way there are board faults all already and this hasnt even been opened by us for the P2 repair.

When the blue LED flashes continually (when connected to the Space Station) it generally indicates there is a fault on the CanBus. Cause can be a few things, most likely its due to corrosion on the CanBus connections on the P2 connector. Or the CanBus protection diode pack on the main board (near the fuse) has been damaged.. short/leaky. The 6 pin diode protection pack is marked X2. Failing those, the CanBus controller IC may be faulty.
More often that not though its the P2 and or the X2 diode pack. We have had a high success rate repairing pumps exhibiting the flashing blue light syndrome. Also if the pump connect to a PC, the cause is generally the same, either P2 or the x2 diode pack. NB: Replacing the x2 chip is a nightmare if you don't have a video scope or a strong magnifying glass.

I'm not shure you still work on the hospital ? but I was very happy when I saw your experience with the X2 diode pack on the can bus on Bbraun pump. I have several pumps with flashing blue light, and I would like to replace the diode pack X2, but I cannot find a pn. to buy, do you have a number I can try to buy ?

X2 is an ESD protection diode pack, I purchased them from Element 14
