Good morning from a strangely warm day in Rome.

Just started our campaign of PM&Safety testing in one of wards where all the beds are Stryker, I can appreciate
that your cables are terminated with UK plugs (moulded ?) but has any one had any problems ?

All of the beds checked so far have some sort of problem with their cable-plug termination.

The Stryker beds were supplied by a third party, who has declined our request for (free) substitute cables.

A few thoughts come to mind there, Malcolm:-

1) Yes; poor quality cables (especially where entering the plug).
2) Could be caused by aggressive yanking!
3) What were they like during your previous campaign?
4) Don't your nursing staff report faults?

Solution:-

Frequent "walk-through" inspections until the situation improves.

PS: Continental mains are all of an inferior design.

Solution:-

Change all plugs and sockets to BS-1363 (British) design.

PPS: obviously not the ones indicated in my avatar.

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

Looks like a material problem.Perhaps it's similar to an old charging cable for Apple phones,The material used is environmentally friendly, which results in bending fatigue not meeting the requirements and eventually leading to fracture.

Sometimes you want to be environmentally friendly and have a long life, which is contradictory. You can only choose one. Perhaps compromise is the only solution.
