Whilst visiting a young friend in hospital, that you did not work in, and you spotted a simple non
life threatening fault on a piece of equipt. You
could fix the problem easily & it was out of normal med eng hours. do you?
A: Fix it
B: Inform the staff (NOT TOO POMPOUS)
C: Ignore it
D: Demand that the equipt is impounded

Fix it - and be caught on CCTV tampering with medical equipment.
Ignore it - and live with the fact that it could have led to a mis-diagnosis or incorrect treatment and so killed someone.
Demand that the equipment is impounded - and volunteer yourself for a colonic lavage.
Tell someone - and accept that it's their equipment and their decision if they choose to carry on using it - or they might even ask you to sort it out, since you seem to know so much about it eek

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

Discreetly stick a wee (polite, anonymous) notice highlighting the problem to the nursing staff.

Tell the staff. They won't mind. I was once asked my opinion of a Dinamap WHILST having my scorched flesh (petrol flash burn to the arm and face) cleaned up in A&E.
