Those of you that have or have tried the 5000 - would you say the reason the staff in your dept. dislike the SLE5000 is because it's always alarming?

Yes. The bloody thing would not stop alarming.

I think the major cause was all the babies are humidified and the water kept condensing on the flow sensor wires. The other problem is that we also had SLE2000 ventilator as well and had to remember what patient giving set to use for each machine (Red or Orange). The SLE2000 is a very good machine to use.

Glad to hear we are not alone!
We had the same problems (water around sensors) initially when using it with the F&P 850 humidifier but changed to use it with the 700 and it seemed better (and yes, before anyone metions it, we do know about the 850 humidity compensation algorithm setting) and with the latest batch of ccts seems to have reduced that particular problem.
Totally agree about the restrictor colours - why choose two colours so similar!!

going off on a tangent.... Wasn't there a recent MHRA hazard notice relating to SLE neonatal vents and the heated patient circuits?

Have you come across this reported hose phenomia?

Hi Scottish... Good morning. Not sure if you are still active but still gonna try. was wondering if you were able to get passcodes for the Avea units that your facility purchased before and if you could still remember how the passcodes were determined based on the serial numbers( or better yet if you have a copy somewhere hidden. maybe could use it as a guide to decipher passcodes of other units. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks
