We have the benefit of being a small country and filling of the calibration gases poses no problem at all.

Calibration gases are also available in canister form and available from your local vendors but tthey don't normally stock them for you and therefore its good to plan ahead for the next replacement.

Make the impossible POSSIBLE. I know we all can and it is the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.

Thanks Roger.

I have just noticed that Smiths have a canister listed online, so will give them a ring tomorrow and see what happens.

Nitro,
make sure you are getting what you actually need.
some cal gas isnt actually the gases, believe it or not. Its a mimic. Some machines actually sniff the gas so need the proper actual mix, we've had this problem.
Also some OEM,s have an agrement with the cal gas suppliers so that only one calgas supplier can make a mix and they can only supply it via the equipment OEM.

That a very good point.
Yes i need the real stuff for the device to stiff
I have had the gas, regulator and other periphery for the Etco2 calibration on order for quite some time from the OEM (Medtronic)
This is to test the optional module fitted on the LP12.
The OEM part number for the gas is 3012556-001

Hi I have a similar problem nitro I require 5%CO2 20.9%O2 74.1%N2
also 5%CO2 50%N2O Balance Air. The problem is that the Gases are for differant Manufacturers. The one Supplier that I found in the US require one to purchase by the Case when all I require is One Canister of each type?

I find it hard to believe that I am the only lowly Tech requiring the odd bottle of Calibration Gas. Not even a reply from our good friend Geoff.Come back Louis Wiseman III all is forgiven?

Is it me or does the ability to spell go out the window when one logs on to this Site?

You may find that companies like BOC can make up small bottles of high accuracy gas mixtures (refered to a "alpha gas") to your specifications. These come a certified and tested and are fine for doing gas cals, we used to use them on respiratory medicine systems. So long as you don't want a mixture with anaesthetic agent in it this should not be a problem.

spellllin, donto knoww wat u meanie

I saw your earlier post, John, and "felt your pain", as it were. But (believe it or not) I try to restrict my responses to those that may actually help, as it were. But ... seeing that I got a mention there ...

... yes, this proprietary cal gas business is yet another gouge (and always has been since these things first appeared many years ago now). Why can't the manufacturers standardise on the gas (and the fittings)? Not to mention, why so expensive? Well, I guess we all know the answer to all that. And I don't see the situation changing anytime soon.

Perhaps "the answer" is for some enterprising bod to offer an alternative source! smile

But yes ... how come we don't hear from the Great Louis any more? And again yes (and as I have lamented more than a few times in the past), it's a pity that so many contributors to the forum don't bother to sort out their spelling (and, for that matter, grammar). We're not too fussy ... but the English language, spelling and syntax is preferred. That way, posts are easier to understand, and therefore more likely to elicit a helpful reply! frown

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.
