Warning! Did you know the "low pressure" alarm only indicates a major pump failure, not a leak in the mattress? Complete disconnection of the mattress doesn't even trigger it! Huntleigh say it's not cost effective to incorporate such an alarm. In our view a replacement mattress such as this should have one and the existing alarm labelling is misleading for nurses when compared with other pumps. We've just had a serious incident following a leak, and have withdrawn them.

Steve No I didn't Know. We will be taking over the ripple pumps and mattresses in the next 6 - 8 weeks. They are currently all on contract. Is it something we should leave on contract?

I would say yes for the time being, John. The immediate action I would recommend is ensure all nurses or community carers responsible for Breeze's are aware of the lack of alarm, and check the mattress regularly. We are meeting with Huntleigh later this week to hopefully sort it out... Good luck with the beds! We do about 280, you need a lot of space, and spares!

We do pressure relief mattresses as well, mainly Huntleigh Xcell etc. Never heard of the Breeze. Most of the wards use a leasing contract with K.C.I. - so we dont get involved as much as we used to. I agree that you need a lot of space to work on mattresses properly. Finding leaks can be a real nightmare !
Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !
