Welcome to the world of doom and gloom (according to Geoff).
Your never to old to have ambitions and the motivation to change if you have the right mindset!!

Yes, far better to inhabit the comfortable, jolly world (according to Kawa), where everything is funded by the taxpayer, and Nanny is always there when things go wrong!

Personally speaking, my ambition is to get away from the insanity of my surroundings (or at least to survive in spite of it all). I am already motivated more than anyone else I know ... and if everyone one else adopted a mindset similar to mine, well ... there just wouldn't be a problem.

Strategically, my aim is to make the world a better place (PM me if you need details), but tactically first we need to clean up what's been going on in Britain. In short, I want my country back! That's not Doom and Gloom ... that's turning Anger in Action! smile

Change? To what? Just another nodding sheep?

How is the "great plague" getting on, by the way? Or has it all become "yesterday's news" already? frown

Anyway, today's news indicates that we already have some else to worry about:- Carbapenem Resistance.

Quote:
Dr David Livermore, the HPA's director of antimicrobial research, said: "We are getting to our last line of antibiotics".

Oh, that's allright, then. And ...

Quote:
The latest strain resists all standard antibiotics usually used by the NHS, so doctors are having to fall back on older-style drugs to treat infections.

Oh yes? Which ones are those, I wonder.

Sorry maggots would be a treatment rather than a drug.

on the same vein how about using honey to treat wounds?

Maybe maggots would be happy to much away on enterobacteriaceae ... if only they could get at 'em!

I suppose you could always swallow a handfull and hope for the best! smile

(any other ideas?)

Meanwhile, the comment I liked was:-

Quote:
... it's a warning from God!

That just about sums up how I have always felt about "meddling with nature", as well. The "problem" is that we all suffer (that is, the whole of mankind), rather than just the irresponisble (or selfish, which amounts to the same thing) dickheads who remain the root of the problem. frown

Meanwhile, feeling even rougher than usual, I phoned the swine 'flu hotline number ... and all I got was crackling!
