Actually John (having recently seen some - to my mind - astronomical quotes for test equipment from a certain well known supplier of test equipment), I was hoping that you might be enticing delegates with some ... er, complimentary test equipment!

That way I would probably have made the effort myself. That plus the "three course sit-down lunch", of course!

I hope it all goes off well, but (as you know) I only ever attend these soirées under heavy disguise. But if you get time, you'll find me somewhere behind you ... most likely the fly on the wall, third from the left. smile

It seems that a good few folk saw through my disguise, after all. smile

It was a great day, and may I extend full appreciation to Ruth, John, Huw and the rest of the team for all the effort they put in to make it so.

It was nice being able to actually meet in person some of the stalwart contributors to this forum.

There were some interesting exhibitors as well (I was especially pleased to find QADOS now offering the BC range of test equipment). Although it was a pity they had all thinned out by the time the final speaker had finished (as I had been hoping to complete my rounds, as it were). smile

BTW: having previously said that I never attend such occasions myself, as I was working in the area, the opportunity arose, you might say! Any rumours to the effect that I called in just for the free lunch are totally unfounded!

Well done John and Ruth, very informative and well arranged.

I met a true Legend from the site and Geoff as well (Sorry Geoff I couldn’t resist it).

It was great to meet up with some old friends and to make a few new ones.

But I thought it was a shame Neil and Dave from Oz couldn't be bothered to turn up.

Well, I did try. Sadly, my corporate Master Card would not cover the airfare so I tried hitch hiking. Got as far as the first public bar and that was that. Still, I'm looking forward to Huw emailing me my free three course lunch any time now. grin

Seriously though, John did say that he would try to make video of the presentations available to those of us with "distance issues". I do hope he can arrange it, there seemed to be some interesting stuff (and I know Kiwi Phil also asked for access.)

I was in Thailand up until the 14th of this month and sadly had to return to work, if ever one of these Seminars are put on in an area whereas Dave from OZ, Kiwi Phil and myself can easily attend, then sadly we will remain as distant observers.

I think you need to organize something similar out in Jeddah, Neil.

I'm sure that Jonathan et al would be only too happy to come out there!

But (meanwhile) rest assured that your name came up once or twice in conversation, as it were! smile

@Jonathan: it seems they had to clear their stuff away ready for someone else's meeting that was taking place during the evening.

I've been to a meeting that was simultaneously relayed in SecondLife for people who couldn't travel. Presenters were videoed and questions from the online attendees were asked by someone with a laptop and connection.
