We want to put some old GU2391 Roberts pumps back in to service but have been told by Fannin (who bought up the remnants of GU) that they no longer supply the filters for them. Does anyone know of a source of filters for these pumps? Thanks RoJo
My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.
The problem is that the filters clip on to the pumps so need a specific sized connector on the machine end. An appropriate type of filter would be easy to obtain but one that fitted on to the pump is harder. Pall filters are just down the road so I will try them as well. The pumps have been sitting in a cupboard on a ward for a while, were serviced and got working then the ward realised they had no filters and no records of where they used to get them from - possibly GU when they existed.
As a supplementary question - does anyone know of a current manufacturer of wound drain pumps? And I do not mean of the KCI VAC type but ones for draining fluid from body cavities.
Thank you RoJo

Whilst on the subject of Roberts Pumps, I have received this correspondence:-

Hi Geoff,
I found a few of your messages posted online referring to a Roberts pump made by Medcalf Bros. I'm writing an article about the history of Medcalf Bros. and their pump design (which they copied from an aquarium pump designed in New Jersey in the 1930s). Two former employees of the company have mentioned that they used to sell pumps to the Genito-Urinary Co., painted a special cream colour, but nobody can remember what they were used for. I haven't been able to find a picture of one either. Is there any chance you can you tell me what a Roberts pump does?
The guy is now asking for some pictures, by the way. That is, of the various versions of G.U. and Thackray Roberts pumps.
It looks like the old Medcalf Bros. factory on Cranborne Road has gone now (like so much else) ... but the "Mini Spares Centre" is next door (so there's some good news, then).
I was away on the ward taking these photos when you posted the request. Great minds..... Sorry the photos are not very clear I used my Blackberry in poor light conditions on the ward. Roberts Pump RoJo
PS The connector is 23.5mm diameter

It seems to be another "great minds" moment, I have been racking my brain as to where I had seen that connector before....then I remembered. I have just come back from trying to fit a SAM12 filter on it and it does fit.
Is the whole world going telepathic? Are we living in a Dr Who story? RoJo

No ... it's just that you had forgotten about SAM pumps, Robert.
Senile dimentia plus excess alcohol is taking its toll.
Yes I can get them from the same place as those for the SAM12 - GBUK Healthcare - as Abbey Surgical seem to be called these days. Unless anyone else knows of a cheaper source.......
