OP RoJo Hero Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 2,020 Permenantly in "The Smoke"	We want to put some old GU2391 Roberts pumps back in to service but have been told by Fannin (who bought up the remnants of GU) that they no longer supply the filters for them. Does anyone know of a source of filters for these pumps? Thanks RoJo My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

Images of cotton wool and "wet-fail devices" come to mind! I wonder if Therapy can help? Either way, I'm sure that some hospital will have boxes of 'em hidden away at the back of a store room somewhere! It's interesting to hear that you're putting them back into service, though. As I said recently, sometimes the old ways are still the best. I'm also wondering where those pumps have been all this time. In storage, in the Library, hidden on the wards ... ? If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

OP RoJo Hero Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 2,020 Permenantly in "The Smoke"	The problem is that the filters clip on to the pumps so need a specific sized connector on the machine end. An appropriate type of filter would be easy to obtain but one that fitted on to the pump is harder. Pall filters are just down the road so I will try them as well. The pumps have been sitting in a cupboard on a ward for a while, were serviced and got working then the ward realised they had no filters and no records of where they used to get them from - possibly GU when they existed. As a supplementary question - does anyone know of a current manufacturer of wound drain pumps? And I do not mean of the KCI VAC type but ones for draining fluid from body cavities. Meanwhile, regarding secret stocks of original filters, three names come to mind:- 1) Tim Broadbent 2) Ed Bennett ... and ... 3) Mike Hilditch! If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

That is, of the various versions of G.U. and Thackray Roberts pumps. It looks like the old Medcalf Bros. factory on Cranborne Road has gone now (like so much else) ... but the "Mini Spares Centre" is next door (so there's some good news, then). Sorry the photos are not very clear I used my Blackberry in poor light conditions on the ward. Roberts Pump RoJo PS The connector is 23.5mm diameter My spelling is not bad. So, the filters you're after just push on to that yellow adaptor, then? Not the same as those found on top of some SAM pumps, I don't suppose? If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

The same filter fitting was also used on the Valley Lab ST100M suction unit. I am not familar with the 'Roberts Pump' but I know you can get both a bacterial and hydrophobic filter for this fitment. I have just come back from trying to fit a SAM12 filter on it and it does fit. Is the whole world going telepathic? Are we living in a Dr Who story? RoJo My spelling is not bad.
