Just joined up.
Can anyone help me?
Masimo Rad-8 on power up gives error 1 message.
MS board communication failure.
Is this a simple fix or does it have to be returned to Masimo?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. smile

According to the manual:-

"Upon detection of a system error, the main software alerts the user with an audible alarm indicator and displays the appropriate error code on the display. The MS board is held in reset and no other runtime functionality is available to the user until the unit is power cycled or until power is completely removed and re-applied to the system (removal and/or replacement of battery)".

So it sounds as if your first step is to power down, remove the battery, (count to 100 ... or fifty if you like), then re-install the battery and try again. But while you're at it, you might like to convince yourself that the battery is OK, and still has some juice left in it!

Good luck ... and be sure to let us know how you get on. smile

Was going to say the same thing - Masimo are not too helpful when it comes to advice etc - getting into the habit of selling parts to the user and then refusing service help unless you are trained, and then avoiding giving information on training.

Mad

Thanks for ideas.
Disconnected battery for 5 mins and checked. Battery OK.
Still same problem, when switching on, error 1 and switches itself off and then back on again, giving error 1 etc. etc.
I think this unit is going back to Masimo.
