This 3D scanner and printer package costs £899.00.
You do not have to make many parts to get your money back.
No more gouges from companies when small plastic bits snap.

If someone would like to buy me one for Christmas so I can make replacements for all the plastic toys my grandson breaks I would be very grateful. smile

Don't forget that the original (unbroken) part has to be "scanned in" (copied, saved to file) somehow.

What we need is an "Industry Standard" (that is, agreed) software file format ... then a (growing) software library of all those parts. smile

That looks brilliant!
Surely a glued-together original could be scanned for an intact replacement?

I saw recently a '3D pen', successfully funded on Kickstarter. You ran an ABS line into the back, and could construct 3D 'drawings' with the molten plastic which quickly solidified. That'd keep your grandkids quiet for a while, Robert!

Ah, just found the link:

Can you imagine a 4yr old with one of these? NO!!!!!!!
But a grown up mature adult such as myself....well let the fun begin.

Back to spare parts.
Yes I was meaning you could do a rough repair with a dob of glue then scan it.

X3D as it supersedes VRML.

Just seen a 3D printer advertised for £700 including VAT if they keep reducing like this I'll be able to buy one for next Christmas.

Here there is warning issued by GOVT to ban 3D items specially GUNS, as they cant be detected by usual scanners at airports or customs.
Why there is always flush of evil ideas in using great technology.
