Poole Hospital NHS Trust and Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Trust are the two District General Hospitals which serve the population of East Dorset. Employing over 7000 staff, they deliver a high quality of healthcare to approximately half million patients a year and with an annual turnover of £180 million. Both Trusts continue to invest in significant capital development programmes, and are actively pursuing 3 star status to further improve the quality of healthcare provision to patients.
The Electronics & Biomedical Engineering (EBME) Department employs 17 staff responsible for the management of equipment with a value exceeding £16 million . Wholly owned by Poole Hospital NHS Trust, the department provides comprehensive equipment management services to Royal Bournemouth Trust and the surrounding community PCT's through service level agreements.
The department will have a vacancy for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to manage one SLA on behalf of Royal Bournemouth Trust. This is a key position, and will involve the comprehensive on-site provision of equipment management services as part of the Royal Bournemouth management team in the discharge of its duties, as well as the day to day operations of its medical devices maintenance needs (including all staff and resources). The post deputises for the EBME manager (PHT) in his absence, and also manages the Equipment Library service on behalf of Royal Bournemouth Trust.
Candidates will be expected to have extensive experience of medical equipment management and maintenance (a minimum of 5 years in a medical engineering environment), and be able to work on a broad range of electro-mechanical medical equipment.
Candidates must also have appropriate qualifications e.g. HNC or equivalent minimum qualification (a degree is desirable) in electronics or a relevant engineering subject, together with a management qualification. It is expected that you will have, or be working towards NVQ level 5 in a management context.
