Hi Mark

Just read this with interest, you claim that this is the first centre of it's kind in the country. I would disagree with you there.

Bristol have had a Medical Simulation Centre since 2000 in which they do training that your centre proposes. They also conduct extensive research to improve the simulations even further using the a METI simulator I believe. The Physicist there Dr Mark Tooley is well published in this area, in deed his group had a presentation at this years IPEM conference.

St George's also has an established Skills centre with simulation room, they also use a METI simulator. In fact a lot of teaching Trusts have such facilities.

I think the first may have been at the University of Hertfordshire, again they provide training and research to make simulations more realistic. This centre has been running since 1995 I believe, this group is also well published on this area. I'm not sure what simulator they use, I think it may be built in house to suit there research interests.
