I had experience on eBay of a 'church representative' in New York wanted the item I was selling sent to a Pastor in good old Nigeria. Payment was allegedly made via Paypal and a reasonably convincing looking email from 'Paypal' to confirmed this. Being the suspicious type I forwarded the suspect email to spoof@paypal.co.uk and within a minute my suspicions were confirmed.
Both Ebay and Payal offer excellent services if you are in the least bit suspicious of communications. My advise is make good use of them.
