Not sure that this sort of thing should be encouraged - this sort of advice and information might give untrained and lesser experienced individuals, working without appropriate supervision in small departments or non-biomedical engineering departments, enough information to "dabble" and get themselves into difficulties without all the information being available to hand. Information that most have had to obtain by purchasing manuals, a place on a course or spending time to gain.
Plus knowledge that could be considered as "commercially sensitive", as the information in many manuals and knowledge picked up on some courses actually is, may be passed onto third-party organisations i.e. competitors that should pay for this information or build up their own core of knowledge and experience.
Also this sort of advice is what the manufacturers service department and technical support is there to provide - I wouldn't want their advice, which is a good source, to be undermined. Extreme views and not altruistic at all but it's my view that there are third-party organisations and "one-man bands" out there that would love someone to throw this sort of thing into their lap so they can stick it on a database.
Individuals shouldn't sell their experience and knowledge, built up over years, short or give it away for nothing. Unfortunately I am finding that I have to be a protectionist looking after my own interests and a realist - especially with the prospect of Multi-Vendor Servicing, AfC, KSF, NOS and professional regulation knocking on the door.
Just one other thing to remember - we're not fixing televisions or toasters.
