Our neonate unit is about to purchase two Natus neoBlue Minis (they use LED`s rather than conventional tubes). The end user is supposed to use the neoBlue radiometer to check the output and of course we in EBME will have to purchase one of the meters specified by Natus for PPM checks. At over £1000 for each meter this is obviously a considerable outlay for just (at the moment) two phototherapy units.
Has anyone any thoughts or experience with these units ?
I see one post with a sickness problem, I assume from the blue LED`s, affecting nurses. From the notes from Natus, the end user is advised to angle the light away from staff and/or use amber glasses (Guard Dog Bones glasses (part no 413BB) are recommended and are available online at
www.safetyglasses.com)
