"Horses for courses" here Neil.

If you are working in a place where there is a system that works in both biomed and facilities then well and good. The way that we work however is not like that.

As a company we work across many different hospital groups, day surg, ambulance services, etc, each group having a different "in-house" system. It would be unmanageable for us to work with so many different systems so we bring a single "external" system with us. As a regional manager I simply could not work with 5 or 6 different systems, it would be chaos.

That being said, with a couple of the groups we deal with, we have started to get them to use our current system (Service Centre) for their facilities work. It is taking considerable effort/time (getting test scripts written, etc, etc) but the end result may be worth the effort. At least it keeps our IT guys busy grin

I agree that, if possible, it is desirable for a single system to be used across all maintenance services at a single site or hospital grouping but in "my world" that just ain't possible. That is why we have separate systems at our various sites and why we sometimes get facilities jobs on our system and visa versa.
