I have found that the
real reason for the promotion of biphasic defibs is so certain "Resus Officers" can roam from hospital to hospital, convincing (frightening) the Board that all the old befibs need to be chucked out, and then taking a nice "little something" (from the
gouging suppliers of the new equipment) before moving on.
