You are quite right Geoff, I shouldn't say what you may be thinking, people are able to work out for themselves your take on things from your posts.

Do you mean in your point {1} the public can survive without the NHS. I'm sure all the private, vet type, healthcare institutions out there at the moment are queueing up to take the swine flu patients.

NHS isn't perfect, far from it, but I haven't seen a credible alternative yet in the UK.

At what point after a Biomed tech is made redundant will you be devouring your shreddies, just so I can book a front row seat.

Everyone keeps saying we are in the mire, couldn't argue, but sick people keep showing up expecting to be treated, NHS of course Geoff, probably only healthy people show up in the private sector, no reduction in front line services, but it is happening, budgets have to be cut, but as Sean says drugs budget/spending still keeps rising, cost of PFI keeps increasing, capital replacement costs still rising.

All these are free market CONSERVATIVE approaches. I only highlight conservative because you seem to be blaming the "last lot" and voters.

Surely the mess was created by the banking and financing sector and is only being propped up by the "common man" or voter as you put it.

The Irish government have just announced that they will withdraw support for the Allied Irish Bank if they pay out the large bonuses promised to their employees.
Maybe our own Government should have done the same thing here

Managers on £80k plus, believe me there are lots of them.
The point is that they are targetting the people on £22k as being the problem. Don't know about the 4% savings Geoff, figures I have seen relate to about 10% - 15%

Is that achievable? Is that what good investigative journalism should be "rooting out" ?

If you obviuosly believe that 4% figure, and you're so well read, then what hope for the rest of Joe Public
