To be honest, I doubt that there's a fortune to be made in fixing kit in the UK these days. If it's money you're after, you need to do something else as well.
For what it's worth (if only for encouragement, I hope), my own income income goals have always been "just enough to carry on". As I have already hinted at, it's all just a question of doing what you actually want to do.
Meanwhile, "rebellion" might be a better thought.
