Be careful that the cells are good quality ones. I bought a copy (cheap) laptop battery from ebay (China )and the cells had little capacity even when new. Also the batteries are intelligent so make sure that all that circuitry still works.
How about getting one made up and put it through some tests in the workshop before committing yourself
