I spoke too a Rep many months ago about a new style syringe pump. After he showed me the new product, it reminded me of all the all syringe pumps and peristaltic pumps which I had to service for my daily bread, way back when!

Do you remember the Vickers IP3, BCD switches and pp3 battery for mains fail! Those leaf springs for the occlusion pressure were a pain to fit, without unravelling all three!

Then it was the IP4, not much better but bigger and the staff liked them ?cos they were easy to operate.

The Vial, SE200 and SE400, were interesting, once you figured how to open the case! (black silicone over the screw heads, now there?s an idea.) I never liked them, the occlusion pressure was extreme. It never really stood out until the IDA infusion analyser?s were used to printout the results! 37 psi is a bit high don?t you think?

The IP3?s were replaced with the Graseby MS2000, pity we found out about the trade in after we scrapped them though! A nice simple pump, either like or disliked, no middle ground on this one! I remember the Rep, saying at the time that all the component parts are sourced from RS, so ? An easy fix?.lads? was the suggestion.

I remember the service course on the 3M?s pump, Model number I can?t remember? The most interesting extra information from Nick Southern was the ?London Chimes are generated from this chip lad?s, but if you do this?? well the rest is History as they say.

The best syringe pump I ever serviced I think, was the Ohmeda SP9000, accurate, yes extremely so. The best by far that I ever serviced. Unfortunately they were a bit fragile when dropped, which was a regular thing. Then it took over three hours to complete the service test?s, that was after the repair!

What do you guy?s remember from your life in this industry? Or is it just me who has nightmares about servicing , 6 months worth of SP900
