Sorry mate I don't drink, leave that to you lot. Say it as I see it me, England is jammed packed with world class players, strength in depth, players who can turn a game with one touch, a rock solid 'keeper, and we are due that little slice of luck every team needs to go all the way. Can't wait for the open top bus and ticker tape parade.

You never told me what your predictor threw up for France and Argentina in '02 by the way.

I also cheer my head off for your lot and for the Irish when they qualify as I am a Great British Citizen. You ought to try it. You never know, you might even feel a micron of pride.

I’m sorry guys but I’m afraid it looks like most Scots football fans will be supporting teams with Scottish-based players, like Trinidad and Tobago - who are in England's group for the opening phase of the competition.
But you know, maybe you English guys are right though, us Scots should be getting right behind the English team because after all you are our nearest neighbours who are actually in the tournament. We’ll do this, but only on the condition that If/when England drop out you then turn round and support your nearest neighbours (Say France)?
Snowler when you talk about "strength in depth" does this apply to the strikers; Michael Owen, who is recovering from a broken toe, the untried Theo Walcott - plus the unfit Rooney?

Haz please dont mention supporting France it`s bad enough to have drawn them in the department sweepstake. As you can guess me and the French dont get on to well.......Why not a UK team now that could be a winning team with all the home grown talent out there. laugh

As a rugby man a football world cup holds little interest to me at any time. However I do wish the England team well (but pray that they don't win - the hype would be too much to bear). I hold no beef against your team. It's just the brain-dead that pass for football pundits - the fans with microphones/typewriters that get up my nose. Since you're asking, Scottish commentators are ten times worse.
Incidentally, back in the 60's, when JFK addressed the throng in Berlin with your famous quote, he left them slightly bemused because they couldn't understand why he was declaring himself to be a jam doughnut!
Come on Engurland! Hope you don't get to the Maifeld and then lose on penalties - it would be just too cry-making.
wink smile

Support France! they should only be supported by the French!
As for a UK team, It would be all English and a few token Celtic players taken along for the trip. How many world class Celts are there these days? Years ago they played in the English Leagues, nowadays they are either not good enough or their place is taken by other Europeans.

I'm an England fan, but I agree with the Scots. There is way too much hype!

Probably gonna get blasted for this but...

Our squad is lacking in real quality. We have no fit world class strikers (i don't care how many goals stretch scored against a bladdered/hungover Jamaica side- he's still rubbish.), a midfield with talent, but give the ball away too much and lack organisation. Our defence is good when it's awake. The Keeper is world class.

We really aren't as good as the media and most INGURLAND fans think and we will be found out against decent sides in the latter stages.

Also, I don't like seeing decent players left behind because they don't pull the right club shirt on every week.

Despite my rant, I really am an Enland fan, and a world cup win would be great. BUT... I'd trade it in for a decent season at Goodison Park next season!

At last the voices of reason shades The main reason Scots people would prefer you don't win the world cup would be the totally OTT media coverage. Your team has 1 genuine world class player (Gerrard before you ask) the rest are good but not exceptional. Anyway good luck in your opening game, don't think you'll need though. Won't actually see the game as I will be at a wedding mad

And while you lot are all tucked up in front of the tv I shall be taking to the empty roads, sticking to the speed limits and putting my Suzuki 650s through its paces!!! The longer England stay in, the more fun I can have!!!
