I've just received a flyer about the Oakleaf software. What does anyone think of it?

To all reading/ participating. Please feel free to start new 'topics' under this Libraries forum, as opposed to adding to this single, lonely, desolate thread....

I have to get a copy so I'll let you Know. We've been given a small room about 14 foot square to set up a 'LIMITED' equipment room (I can't bring myself to call it a library). We also are going to recieve some funding for a medical technical assistant to operate it. What duties should he/she be able to perform other than booking equipment in and out? Any suggestions??

We are hoping that our "library" will initially be for infusion equipment, so the plan is to buy at least one more Infusion Device Analyser so the "librarian" can check each device regularly (after each loan ? ?) to check it's OK between services. They will have to clean them, too, since the wards rarely seem to bother !

Our library co-ordinator checks equipment returned as faulty and filters out the user errors/finger trouble. He also does training on the wards, hopefully this will eventually reduce the number of user errors.

we couldn't use our library assistant for training. The person will be unskilled and require training in the running of the library. Are you using a qualified MTO?

No we've got an ex Staff Nurse from A+E and the job is an MTO3. What grade are you using ? How much do you want the librarian to do ?

hello Amanda
We've managed to get funding for an (unskilled) assistant technical officer, paying 9 to 11k.
we were thinking about training him/her to use a safety analyser and IDA2 infusion tester. It would probably suit a school leaver interested in moving into this field. We would encourage them to go to college (evening or day release) to get electronics qualifications.

An update:

Our equipment library is now running successfully [Although we did have some teething problems finding someone suitable to do the job]. Thank you to all those on this forum who assisted. smile
