Hi,
we as a Trust are evaluating a number of products in an attempt to Standardise.

1. Has anyone a user/technical Evaluation form they'd like to share. (the info from the MDA is great but our users like to try them for themselves) rolleyes

2. One of the devices to be trialed is the new Graseby Omnifuse, any comments? confused

3. We're also trying to loose the Mercury Sphigs, anyone know of viable alternatives? confused and howwere they evaluated?

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark
We have been replacing the Mercury Sphigs in our hospital over the last 4 years (It's a slow proccess) we are using the Maxi Stabil 3 From Welch Allyn, which have been validated by the British Hypertension Society, we have a copy of the report if you wish to see it.
We check the calibration regularly, even after four years they are amazingly accurate.

As far as the evaluation reports go from the MDA, yes they are great, but we have usually purchased the equipment long before the report comes out, I think at the end of the day if your users like a particular item of equipment and there is no technical reason why they can't have it, go for it. Providing you have done your own evaluation on it with regards to consumables, spares, user training and technical training.

Paul.

We've been going for the same Welch Allyn unit which seems to be working well, is liked by the users and is aproved by the powers that be.
We're still using the small Omron electronic sphygs in quite large numbers and have found them reliable, very well liked by the users and remakably accurate considering their price.

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

A fine splendid good day to you all, John,Hue, is it at all possible for EBME.CO.UK to conduct a poll to see which is the most popular and reliable equipment according to our good selves, just a few items, i.e. Ventilators, Anesthetic workstations, patient monitors, defibs , infusion pumps, and what ever anyone else wants to add. Would this not, my friends send a little shockwave out to the manufacturers. Surely this could be of great benefit to us all. This website has the potential to obtain great achievements.
Gentlemen, Louis awaits your reverent input.

Regards

Louis III

Hello Louis,

What an interesting idea! Do you mean a sort of medical equipment Top of the Pops?

Ah Kevin, my wonderfully eminent proficient, and good friend, that is exactly what I mean, & maybe we could get that delightful chap Mr. Gavin “pin up of the year” to do a sort of “Jimmy Saville” and host it, no but seriously, and Louis is quite a serious chap, let our fellow brethren of the EBME world have their say on what they think are excellent medical products.

Kind regards to you Kev.

Funnily enough, John and I have were talking about this very subject last week.

I have started working on it, but we are going to need some serious input from this sites users.

I think we'll need some form of log-in procedure to ensure fair play and stop multiple voting.

If anyone has any ideas on how to procede, we're happy to listen.

More soon....

I think we could adapt a 'car magazine' format for evaluating devices.
i.e. 1 poor 5 brilliant
but it need caregories/sugestions.
I think its an excellent idea if we do it fairly. laugh
