Hi,
Does anybody has any idea about what sort of medical devices are issued or loaned to the patients or their carers from the hospitals or elsewhere. This also includes any medical devices that the patients themselves can buy over-the-counter. Could you please write the names of such devices that you have come across? They could be anything ranging from a simple device like a blood pressure monitor to a sophisticated device like a dialysis equipment or infusion pumps.

I want a comprehensive list of such devices. Please help!!! You could reply on this forum or email me at spg24@cam.ac.uk. Many thanks!

Blood Glucose Meter

Please add!

I have seen a thermometer and and portable ventricular assist device (artificial heart) go home with a patient. Albeit that the latter was an experimental trial. SO I think it is possible to put most medical devices between these two extremes and someone somewhere will have seen it go home with a patient.
I think you are asking for an impossibly long list that will never be difinitive.

Thanks to everyone... Any more???

Rojo, I agree with you that most devices fall between two extremes. However, I am looking for devices that patients/carers (can) operate/use. The list will be helpful for finding the rationale for device-classification for further research.

More......... please!!!
