"Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated"

I've just had an annonymous message on our company forum linking to this site suggesting that Health Tec may have ceased trading.
Although it is perfectly clear from the thread that this other Healthtec "“wither on the vine” after I left Oman in 1987" I feel that I should just clarify the position.

After seeking permission from Huw I would like to take this opportunity to clear up this unfortunate mis-understanding .
Health Tec Ltd. and Health Tec Services Ltd. are definately both alive and kicking.
www.healthtec.co.uk
Thanks Huw.
Best regards,
Chris Pearson

Way off-topic, and with apologies to all concerned … but for those who may be interested (and I doubt that there are many!):-

The original Healthtec Ltd. was formed almost 20 years ago by Peter Shephard and myself to provide equipment consultancy services to new hospital projects in the Sultanate of Oman. We were entirely independent and had no commercial links with any equipment manufacturer or supplier (that’s how we were able to give impartial and unbiased advice!).

As reported earlier, the company did not survive very long, but if any of you Young Turks (preferably ones with a bit of spare cash, and perhaps a touch of entrepreneurial flair) are willing to have another go, perhaps me and Tony could be coaxed into lending our hard-bitten experience to the venture!

Chris is quite right, the new Health Tec which he promotes is altogether a different kettle of fish and has absolutely no relation to our infamous Band of Brothers of yesteryear. smile

Look guys I know this important to you lot but so is the topic in hand to those of us who are seeking advice from our peers i.e. "Equipment replacement value for benchmarking" so can we stick to the topic.

Dear Joe,
I'm sorry you took such great exception to my clarification, however I did this only after asking permission from our host Huw.
I think if the roles were reversed you too, might just want to protect something that you had spent the last 10 years building.
Geoff, thanks for helping with the clarification.

I would have to agree with Joe. When I first came here there were lots of info missing in the asset register from manufacturers to prices. You just have to complete as many as you can using current prices. It's a long job, but if you start with the more expensive items such as ultrasounds and then gradually work down through the others eg. monitors, defibs and if you must, end up with nebulisers and such like.

- - - and that's where the PASA site can help - with up to date replacement prices for current equipment. It's no use basing your 'replacement' cost on the last price the equipment was available at. That way puts you in the position of getting aproval to spend £125, 12shillings and 6pence on a replacement Cardiac Recorders monitor eek

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

I was under the impression this site was for the friendly free exchange of information between health service colleagues.
