Our equipment inventory has blank in the cost field for almost 50% of the items, and I want to improve it. If I wait long enough unpriced equipment will be written off (we now capture prices of new equipment) but that could take 10 years.
I would like a data file (dbf) or spreadsheet showing manufacturer, equipment description, model and replacement value for all the thousands of items on a comprehensive inventory including labs and offices. Can anyone help ???
Regards,
Mark

Try the following link

http://nww.pasa.nhs.uk/sid/default.asp

The site has a list of medical equipment and suppliers and I believe guide prices - although I haven't found them yet !

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

Roy,
Thanks for the suggestion. However, I need replacement prices for lots of old equipment as well as recent stuff. I was hoping that someone with a large equipment inventory which includes replacement prices could extract the data with a few keystrokes. Then I could match up my manufacturer & model data and fill my blanks automatically.
Any offers?

Ahem, ... excuse me for intruding, Mark, but others usually hire Consultants to do that sort of task! smile

Sorry, but I wasn't aware of 'Healthtec'.

Actually I only delete posts from companies who advertise themselves. It wouldn't be fair to the sponsors who keep this site running.

Anyone who suggests a company in response to a question (i.e. helping someone) will not have their posts removed.

...and now back to the thread smile

Geoff,
We do not have money to spend on consultants for what should be a relatively simple task. I am not familiar with commercial equipment management packages which most people are using but surely they are designed for users to export simple data files such as I require.
However, I am prepared to offer a guided tour of our department as an incentive, and will even throw in a ten-year-old Pentax cystoscope - what more can I say.

Huw, thanks for putting that policy statement on the record, as it were.

Sorry Tony, you’re going to have to stop dreaming about the past. As you must remember, Healthtec was effectively left to “wither on the vine” after I left Oman in 1987 (and that’s a long time ago now, Mate).

And, by the look of it, Mark isn’t thinking of making us any offers, especially for what he sees as a “relatively simple task”.

Mark, you ask “what more can I say”? Well, you could try - “funding is available!” smile

What I have done in the past in a similar situation is to look at the cost of what you would replace it with. Use this as your cost, after all isn't that what you are trying to achieve. A replacement value.

Time is of the essence. Don't abuse it. Just make the most of it.
