Has anyone seen the detail of the much heralded 3 year pay deal that has been negoiated on our behalf. I have had a brief look at a very weighty paper from amicus-MSF and I think we have been sold down the river. I am not presently a union member but if the only way I can object to this deal is by joining up then I will do so. What's more I would urge you all to do the same. Anyone else got an opinion ?

Can you tell me how to get a copy of this deal. I am a unioun member and getting information out of them is proving impossible.

Don't know if it's what you are getting at chaps but the recently heralded "Agenda for Change" launch can be found at www.doh.gov.uk

There is a pdf file outlining the changes as well as a covering letter to Chief Execs extolling it's virtues.

Some good ideas wink lots of bad ones frown , inmy opinion.

Several points worthy of scrutinization, namely, the holiday entitlement, loss of double time for a Sunday, where would we be "assimilated", is it done by job evaluation or will it be done by MTO/EO "scaled to fit"

These "Gateway" points, are these just another way of employers "blocking" progression due to "unacceptable or unobtainable" goals being set. eek

I shall be reading with interest and hoping to see lots of postings from colleagues in these "Early Implementer Sites" to see how they are finding the transition.

Bill, please do share with us the points that have caused your outcry.
To say in such a strong manner that you disagree with whats been done and offer no reasons is a bit open ended.
If we are to have meaningful discussion on the matter surely we need to have what opinions are valid and what are not.
wink

Well OK then I'll get you started. A rise of 3.225 % per year with inflation at 2.6% works out at a genuine rise of £140 p.a. This equates to working a public holiday but of course with this deal there will be no public holidays. There is no mention of which pay band we go in to, and more importantly no mention of how you progress or who decides. You will be expected to work an extra half hour every week in return you lose two days annual leave ( seven if you are a grade five).Double time for Sunday disappears. This list is just from light reading some of the wording has to be looked at very carefully indeed. Of course I could be speaking rubbish and so I would be interseted to hear your own views.

With regard to the holiday entitlement, the way I understand is that we would get 33 days annual leave and 8 bank holidays on top. This is better than at present were we get 25 days plus 10 bank holidays.
We are all keen to find out how our jobs will be assimilated and hopefully we will be able to get some idea from the early implimenter sites.
With regard to the on call payments, can you image the pathology departments voting for this!.

If the assimilation is anything like the last time, we're in for a grim time of it.

Weve been advised that there are several local
trusts implementing in 2003 with others following suit in 2004.
The 2003 ones being a fact. The later ones will
be if everthing goes ok with the first wave.

If they are implementing in 2003 then they must be close to assimilating the grades, if it has not been done already. Hopefully we will soon be able to find out the assimilation points but like most others I am not expecting miracles.
