You have the option of editing too Drew. It's available to all - sometimes I post and think of something afterwards, sometimes it's just a few spelling mistakes or the wrong meaning of a word. If you read other postings I've made in different threads I'm actually all for using Grandfather clauses, etc, etc, to ensure those in-post are not compromised by regulation i.e. they don't lose their job and are not forced to go back to school. Plus I think that there are some aspects that EBME/M.P. workforce has not been involved in as it should. But I'm consistent in that I think that eventually we all (meaning Technicians generally) must attain the same basic levels of education, skills and experience required as a minimum to be recognised as "professional".

I will add that it is easy to say this when you're eligible for the VRCT and I understand the difficulties of being faced with study, etc, etc. At least you have managed what I cannot Drew - I am only MTO3 with 18 years experience, formal NHS training, ONC, HNC, Degree, hoping to get MSc and having worked hard. Hope that makes you feel better. Plus I would not be considered for either Raditherapy, Clinical Scientist or Renal Roles. At least you have the grade, eh?

Debate often gets heated.

I will leave ART, IIE, IPEM, the NHS, HPC and VRCT representatives to continue their excellent work of promoting Regulation in the NHS. I'm no longer going to try to actively promote or justify the proposed system (even though in principle I think it's a good idea) when those involved in it don't even make an effort to get involved in a debate or support members of the VRCT who do try - not even give an indication that they're prepared to listen to peoples concerns.

Though I doubt they're going to allay the fears of individuals that don't even meet the current guidelines of Whitley, concerning requirements for Technicians, currently, nevermind the VRCT. No wonder things are in such a mess with regard to qualifications, skills, experience and training versus suitability for job-role and grades.
