Any reasons who these people are can't have their names, titles, organisations worked for, how elected to VRCT panel posted here.

Fair enough not to name the person you have been in contact with but surely it is in all our interests to know who these people are...unless of course they think different.

Don't get me wrong, I applaud John's active interest, but maybe others would like to contribute their two penneth worth too.

I think my cynism is based around Richard's "royal-we" as well.

I know of Jim Methven and Andy Iles from the AMT days, I don't know the others, what they do, how they know what I do, who chose them, how they are represented of me... etc etc

I work in an area of many Departments in all shapes and forms, an know around 100+ Biomeds, vastly experienced in their fields.

To my knowledge none of them have been asked for their input.

If registration is import it shouldn't matter what qualification the person has.

C&G, ONC, HNC, HND, BSC, MSC or PHD. No one should be able to go straight on to the register. (This is for people have gone straight school to university). I think work experience is the most important part to join. None of the above qualification will have the knowledge to work or test any medical equipment. All Technician going into a new job will need supervision what ever his experience may be.

The other option that might come up is the same as the aircraft avionics industry. Were the C.A.A will also interview you as well, as the company of employment.

Yes to the old boys network. It work well and employer will always use it, Especially in such a small industry as ours.

Hopefully this web site and the MHRA will be providing information to VRCT. EBME web site properly has the greatest collection of member and Information in our chosen trade. It is very rare that post goes unanswered.

Interesting point about the CAA also being on the interview panel in the avionics industry. This already happens with Clinical Scientist appointments. Depending on the grade the panel will also include one or two DH appointed external assessors who are employed at C grade.

I know some Trusts that also use external assessors for MTO5 appointments.
