With 11 points being the critical factor for the banding you could look to take advice regarding the appeal process.
Score seems quite close.
Perhaps something was overlooked or not considered in sufficient detail by the evaluation panel ?
If it were me I would examine the rational process closely and seek advice around that issue/s

Bioman,
If you are on a Trust contract you are not on the Whitley scale just a Trust scale that mirrors it. If the Trust decides to increase their equivalent in line with inflation when the government does not then they are at liberty to do that. The Trust scale just mirrors the Whitley scale for convenience it is not actually tied to it.
I want to know who will fight the Trusts over pay rises. Are the unions going to want to work with each Trust or just concentrate on the Nation pay scale? The one that they have agreed to. This makes me think that the local pay scales might well fall behind.
Personally I have not been regraded yet but if I go on to the scale I expect at a matched pay level I will have one increment left until I reach the top of band. If I stay on my current Whitley equivalent scale I will have two yearly increments left.
Guess what I plan to do... not accept the AfC change until after my second pay rise in a year and a half the move over to AfC on protected pay.
That is if it goes as I expect it might.
Robert

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

Thanks Robert that has certainly cleared everything up. I suppose I need to weigh up the pros and cons once I know where they plan to place me.

Thats a cunning plan, pity that we couldnt do that.Trust,or Whitley equivalent, pay is not protected in our for us, the reasoning being that you have the choice to remain on your higher pay band.
Only true whitley staff, who must move to AfC, have pay protection.Whitley as such will no longer exist.

We did get the score sheet, you are quite right, but I dont know if our points would be valid for you, as they are supposed to reflect your JD, which may be different. The total was 385 and band 6 starts at 396.

So close yet so far. mad

Just an enquiry, do you know how your Renal Techs have come out on the pay bands, or haven`t they been matched yet.

Renal techs were treated the same, Band 5.

Not sure how specialist a specialist has to be.

Its not as simple as being 11 points down.To match to a particular job profile factors 2 Knowledge, training and experience, and 12 Freedom to act have to match the JE levels of that job profile. If you have been matched to Band 5 this means you have been matched to levels 5 and 3 respectively (assuming you have been matched to the medical engineering technician job profile).Band 6 has levels of 6 and 4 respectively for these factors. If you go to review you will have to present proof that you match to these higher levels. All other factors staying at the same levels just going up these two would give you 37 more points.
