There is a new NHS eLearning website that proports to have generic infusion pump training on it.
http://www.clpu.nhs.uk
When I accessed this site I got the mesage that I needed Sun Java Virtual Machine to be running. As our Trust does not allow downloads I had to contact the ICT department.
They told me that they were loading Microsoft Java on every PC as part of the new NHS booking programme and that this would be repeated across all NHS Trusts.
They also said that the Sun and Microsoft Java programmes could not run on the same machine.
Has anyone else come across this?
What does your ICT deprtment say?
If this is correct it is one major foul up. eek

I have just received an email from the technical support people who run th NHS eLearning web site.
The site will run with Microsoft as well as Sun Java Virtual MAchine so you have to ignore the message that asks you to install Sun Java and get your ICT department to put the Microsoft version on instead.

This does not explain why I still get the message I have to install the Java Virtual Machine when the ICT department have done it and say it is working correctly.

Has anyone else tried to access this site?
Were you successful?
Is it useful?

Hi Robert,
Yes I tried, using Sun Java (as always).

Not only did it lock up two browsers (Firefox & IE 5.5 shocked ) but it crashed my PC.

I have just tried accessing it again, got a little way in then the browser froze. (IE 6.0 on Windows2000)

Good old government software ..... but this is outsourced to a private comapany.... but then isn't it all?

All will be well with the ID card system, though, eh? It will be impregnable! smile

Found it!!
The latest NPSA bulletin for the South has details of this.
Go to the City and Guilds web site:
http://www.cityandguilds.com
Click on ‘centres’ and select ‘scheme documents’. The information can be found under scheme number 7354.
Then plough through it.
Good luck.

The course has just been launched, I think only the trial sites have actually done it. You need to be a City and Guilds approved centre to deliver the course.
It is recommended that it is done in groups, 10 people is suggested, the course can take up to 40 hours and costs several 10s of pounds per person for the admin fee for the certification.
Is this really going to happen??? confused
It is hard enough getting nurses for half an hour for a free in house training session.
I would be very interested to see how the trial sites got on.
