I recently visited an Old employer to give back a peice of equipment which had come into my possession. Well it is Christmas, and as a professional I would exspect the same courtescy with any of my Assetted items?

Imagine my surprise when they would not even let me through the door, WHY I hear you gasp!!

Were my eyes too close together, had I been sacked when I left there?.. was I no good.. ?? Well the jury is out on that one.. No I was refused entry because I work for Draeger!!

I was under the illusion that we are all proffessionals and ulitimately friends..in a small proffession...

I have been in this role for many years I have always been straight, proffessional and acted in the best interest of my client, and then my employer. I have even joined the VRCT.. well I meet the criteria and have the years!!

All I can say too the Hospital who refused a coffee and a chat over old times, is I don't bare grudges and I would even now still give a hearty welcome to them; after all we are not children. So why behave like one?

Nice one Mark, totally agree - we as biomeds are a dying breed and need to stick together - no matter who we work for. If someone for some reason has a personal grudge against a certain company then why hold it against all their employees, it is rather childish, i could understand it if the person had done something wrong but to blacken a person like that is quite irresponsible.I too have been in this profesion for 15 - 20 years and have never come accross this attitude within our small community, I hope that this was probably an isolated event and not how these people treat all their vistors, if it wasnt then i feel rather sorry for them.

My old Kegmeisters at RH Haslar always throw open the doors when I go back on the rob! Bennett never seems to throw open the wallet though!

Mark E, perhaps your small minded ex colleagues wer wholy jealous of your courage in moving on to greater things? F**k 'em is what I would think mate!

As I keep telling these young pups – it’s all group dynamics. I personally have a lot of empathy with those who stand aside from petty intercourse! And, of course, there’s plenty of that going on at this time of year. smile

Well, you will have the last laugh when they come knocking at your door looking to move on.If thats how they treat their old friends how would they treat a customer that once bought someone elses equipment.
People really need to look at the big picture.

Two thoughts come to mind here:- 1) Maybe we don’t know the full story (let’s hear it from the “other side”, as well). And 2) A wise old guy once counselled me to be careful who I worked for (the inference being that the activities, reputation etc. of your employer reflect also upon you, the employee). This second point is not trivial, for a man’s reputation is an important matter. It is also one of the reasons that I prefer not to be an employee of another man myself. Not only group dynamics, then, but also horses for courses! smile

Well I have deliberately not mentioned who or where the hospital was, and I would think that the guy's wouldn't want to acknowledge who they are.
I still oddly enough think of them as Friends...but prefer to acknowledge the group politic's .. and bow away.. Though it was a painful experience.. to be shunned by friends..

Whilst I also concur with Snowler’s well chosen words, I think we can assume that at least this case of “the cold shoulder” didn’t result in a loss of earnings for Mark, Tony. And I certainly know what that feels like! frown
