We are looking to change the format of our job sheets removing the signature of the user from the bottom. I am interested if anyone else has done this or do you still collect them.

The MOD requires a soft copy on computer, but also a hard copy which requires signatures for completion of work, identification of signatories, supervisors signatures or waivers and also coordinators signatures on closure of job. Sometimes job paperwork can take longer than the job itself.

I would have thought that keeping the user signature was a good idea. When it comes down to it the user can't say that the repair / service has been carried out correctly but the signature does prove that you were there. The rest is down to your professionalism & pride in your work

I think he means the clinical users signature which is basically to say the equipment has been returned servicable to them.
I know what you mean about p/w, my last posting with the RAF was at least 50% pen pushing after doing the work and most of it never left the workshop anyway.

This is quickly turning in to an RAF reunion. My last squadron had Big planes with lots of kit. At least an hour of solid paperwork at days end. Believe me 1st line no better than 2nd & 3rd line.

We get a signature - mainly as proof of delivery/return of the item. We also leave a copy with the user for their information. However we only keep our paper copy for 14 months as everything except the signature is held in computer records.

Of course, in the “real world” the signature of the user on the work order (service report, or whatever) is to accept the equipment back into service, to certify that the job has been carried out to full satisfaction, to acknowledge any comments made on the document, and as authorization to present the invoice! Rather essential, then, I would say. smile

Didn't know there were any other ex liney's in this game. I served on 23,11 and 230 sqns (F3's, pumas and chinny's)the latter over there in Ireland (is it still raining?).
Any more of you out there?
Back to the topic in hand, although i don't have a problem being ITU based, some of our colleagues have experienced receipt disputes ("we returned it to you" "no you didn't").

Our job sheets are uploaded and downloaded to the PDA and our database (E-MAT)and we also collect the signatures on the PDA from Sisters etc on the ward. I can’t tell you the number of times this signature has took the wind out of their sails when otherwise we would have been accused of leaving equipment with out telling anyone etc. Would a TV repairman leave a customers house without some record that he was there and the customer was happy with the job? Don’t think so.
In short I think dropping the signature is a real BAD idea.

I agree with Morse. We use EMAT and apply the same principal. It is only proof of delivery, nothing else. Your test lables stock to the equipment is proof of service carried out + our records on EMAT.

hope this helps.
