Heres another thought. How about a protected section that is only given access to people that have had their whereabouts (in terms of actually who, what, they are) varified.
Or is this opening an old bag of worms as to people having to identify themselves.

RE: "Stock faults". Isn't the restricted "steering group" access to the site used for this sort of thing then? I suppose that would be the ideal forum if verification of contributors' ID is an issue.

I think Geoff's suggestion was a good, open request for the sharing of beneficial information.

However, as other contributors have pointed to, this could be open to abuse by others who read this site who are not from a background of equipment maintenance, but not necassarily Dyson engineers Darren rolleyes

Things like access codes to higher level functions could be made available, and as we all know the night shift have a lot of spare time on their hands to practice the art of "let's see what this does"

We're not strange, protectonist or extreme Darren, just mindful of the harm that can be caused by having dangerous information in the wrong hands.

Open access to POSTING technically sensitive information could be asking for trouble. As far as I understand the web may be full of information, but there is no requirement for any of the information to be either true or accurate. There is no legal sanction available against anyone posting lies or mistakes on web sites.

So whatever you do regarding who can read technical information, actually who is permitted to post it there should be restricted.
