Does anyone have any experience of 'servicing' Reynolds Lifecard CF recorders? I can't envisage that there's a lot to service on these, being solid state, yet Reynolds charge £190 per device. Do you have yours on contract or look after them yourselves?
Any info greatfully received.

we have the same system on a full contract.I think that after a year a message comes up due service and can only be reset by reynolds.

I have no experience of 'servicing' Reynolds Lifecard CF recorders, only first line repairs
But i will say the back up service on our full contract is impeccable.
Free Replacment faulty ecg leads also help justify the cost. smile

Apollo,
I agree that it seems expensive, but if it includes all the replacement cables, and cleaning 'soiled' units, it becomes more justifiable. Have you spoken to reynolds? They may be willing to come to an agreement on a biomed discount for carrying out 1st line repairs.
We managed to get training foc.

We have a few of these and are trying to persuade the ECG Dept to replace all their Tracker II's with them. The only thing we have found to go wrong is case damage, a complete case can be purchased for less than £60 including the leads. I am unaware of any message comming up after a year and we have been looking after them for a few now. I have looked in the operators manual under maintenance and all they say about that is that there are no user servicable parts inside and if there is a problem contact Reynolds. I personally think that £190 is a tad expensive for what must be a visual and function check and perhaps an occational software upgrade.

The problem that I have is that my contract with my 'customer' does not include the free replacement of leads or cleaning, etc. hence I can't easily justify paying the £190 for a visual and functional check as our colleague says.
Reynolds have told me that to 'service' these in house would be prohibitively expensive due the nature of the required test equipment (presumably some kind of PC with download facility). My experience of Reynolds is that they can be very slow and we've had more than one instance where they've mixed up our equipment with someone elses.
I can confirm that the units I've seen do indeed come up with a 'recommended service due date' when you switch them on.

Apollo,
In a previous post I declined the service contract on grounds of cost, cables were not covered. If anyone can get what amounts to a consumable included on a contract they are doing very well. The contract seems to my mind a waste as already pointed out the unit is solid state.
The flag about the service due can be done in house by accessing the setup menu. If I can find my notes I will post. From memory you can set a date or switch the function off.

Thanks Das,

I'd be interested to see how to re-set the service due date if you have the info.
