Whilst we are all being fair to each other (?), Darren, I don't think John was having a go at CEN per se. But Im pleased to see that we have a real debate going on here! Why don't we all lay our cards on the table, as it were? Yes, the ebme site is fine as it is. And it seems to me that CEN is taking the educational path. What I (and, I believe, quite a few others) are looking for is a practical, hands-on, type of site (similar to many technically-based ones that emanate from the US, although mainly in non-biomed fields). Some ask for a subscription, many don't, but all require a registration (ie, lurkers don't get to see much)! It seems to me that neither ebme or CEN will fit that bill, so someone should, I suggest, take the ball and run with it (remember, folks, where you heard it first)!
If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

hi John, point taken but you have a link from your website to this adultl explicit material, is there any way you can stop this? "As a regular contributor and user of the EBME website, I am surprised at your negative comments trying to assosiate our site with porn" but John your photo and detailed description is on the committee section of www.paceuk.org.

given the fact that ebme is linked to PACE the Professional Association for Clinical Engineering http://www.paceuk.org/ ebme is not linked to PACE in any way (as far as I am aware). Can you please tell me where this link is? ....and it seems quite obvious to me that their forum has been spammed without the administrators being aware.

Hey, Guys ... whatever happened to the "Band of Brothers"? We're all supposed to be on the same side, you know!

Hello Manni,
I have left a message with the website management company to have my name removed. Although the PACE website has been 'Hijacked' by maliscious membership, The PACE organisation always tried to run good educational meeting for the benefit of our profession and when I was chairman, I felt its seminars added value. There was a lot of good feedback.
I feel that your comments were very harsh against EBME "It seems that delivering education is not within the remit of ebme site any longer"
Of course it is within our remit. Many websites link to the EBME website and we cannot be held accountable for their content. I feel saddened by your post, and I hope to reassure you we do attract younger members / trainees who we advise by e-mail on career paths in the EBME world.
I do not wish to create a rift in our community, so i hope you will be more considerate about the words you use in future regarding our site. Our members put a lot into this site, and unfortunately a few ill advised words can sometimes stick and cause damage.
Be Proactive and reactive.

Whilst it is understood that sponsors effectively fund the site (fair enough), people sometimes wonder if this ever effects the editing (or whatever) effected by the Moderator. Absolutely not, Geoff. We explain this to every sponsor before we start. You will see on these pages, a number of products being criticised, that belong to sponsors of the site.

Geoff, I have dished and gleaned plenty of technical advice from this forum. I think that technology is moving so quickly, there is not the demand to get down to knitty gritty techy issues. My background is hands-on electronics, but it just doesn't happen any more. I very rarely see our technicians with a soldering iron in their hands. This site does give our community a centre to go to. We do discuss lots of issues. That's good.

Hi John, I was unaware that you had terminated your association with www.paceuk.org and then reading your mini biodata in the committee section with your photo, led me to believe that your are a actively involved member of paceuk, then looking at the forum which highlights the explicit material, I thought how can john allow this sort of environment when he does a great job at ebme. If you don't mind, John I would like to suggest that if you are aware of this type of ongoing activity, you should de-associate your self completely with that particular org. If i have caused you any stress, believe me it was not my intention, but we now know that your profile has been removed from paceuk.
