I work at the University Hospital. We have just been ISO certified and I am interested in improving our pm procedures.I also would very much like to have a copy of the Taskmaster program.

Geoff, are you writing the procedures for your existing database, or do you intend on creating a new database purely to manipulate these 'Generic Procedures' ?

I think a generic equipment listing (equipment type) would be beneficial. If you do not already have one I could supply what I have.

As for generic testing procedures, I will assist if required if you can provide some sort of template document that I could fill out (word / excel / notepad / etc).

Regards
Joe

Joe, I have in mind a generic PM procedure for each equipment type. Eg, Blood Gas Analyzer, 3-Channel ECG Recorder, Single Channel ECG Recorder … etc., etc. Non-manufacturer/model specific, but from which specific procedures could be developed.

I do my database work in Visual FoxPro, but can handle data in any format. Excel is OK.

If you’re interested, you can see the sort of thing at this website (and scroll down to the Preventive Maintenance Procedure Builder screen-shot – although the example shown is a specific one, rather than generic).

I don’t mind creating a new database if the demand is there. Whatever. smile

For those interested in the rather excellent AAMI Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology from USA, they are currently allowing unfettered access to the last 5 years of archives. There is good deal on equipment management & patient safety issues, to name but a few!

One year on … and how far has this “master work” progressed (I know you’re all wondering)? Well, not very far, in truth. But, in my defence, I have been side-tracked a couple of times along the way. But it will get done (eventually, and inshallah)!

But what about some help? Well, with one notable exception (but no names, eh, Joe?), this has been a bit in short supply. I know there are some excellent PM sets out there in a number of UK NHS biomed shops, but despite badgering (bribery even, with tins of biscuits on offer), I have yet to have any of these donated. I don’t think that Crown Copyright applies in these cases, does it? And couldn’t it even be suggested that the British Taxpayer has already paid for it all anyway?

So why be shy? Let’s get these works of art out and into the Public Domain for all to admire! smile

Could this be what I’ve been looking for? Once again, thank you Curt Doles. Anyone out there still modestly hoarding a brilliant (and developed) set of PM procedures in Word format could do worse that submit them to this international collection (ah, fame at last)!

Note to Huw (and everybody else):- note the Mission Statement on the META homepage, and also the overwhelming preference for use of the word biomed! smile
