Its my understanding that this isnt an initial registration.
Its a showing of interest.

The above is correct, but as the date of launch draws closer, we are using the pre-registration of interest details to send out full application packs and funding details. Those individuals registering their interest will receive the information first and as there will be only be an intake of 60 to 80 in the first year split across three pathways it is important to get your name into the hat quickly.

Hope this clarifies.

Thank you

Hot off the press: Eastwood park and Kingston University Foudation Degree:

The cost of the foundation degree course is currently £3000.00 per annum for two years..a lot I hear you say however, grants and loans are available for all students e.g. Low interest loans upto £ 9000.00 per annum, paid back over a period of time after completion of the course; and Grants for all students upto a maximum of £3500 per annum which you do not have to pay back.

Course place for Oct 2007 are filling up, their is a second intake in March 2008.

Actually, Mate, that sounds cheap when compared with the usual one or two week courses at Eastwood Park. Are you sure of the pricing? smile

Hi Geoff,

Answer is Yes, the pricing is correct, it depends upon your family income. There is a sliding scale; those students with a family income of less than £17,000.00 are eleigible for a grant of £3,500.00 and loan of £5,300.00 - a family income of £26,000.00 would make you eligible for a grant of £1700.00 and £5300 loan; if you are earning in excess of £38,300 then I'm afraid there would be no grant, but you would still be entitled to a very low interest student loan of £6300.00

Request a student pack from Sarah Gillinder on Eastwood park (0) 1454 262777

Lets not forget however this is a level 4/5 degree course, equiv to HNC/HND. Completion would also entitle the student to complete a final year of a distance learning Hons Degree programme with Kingston Uni and gain a BSc Hons.

Rob

What if you already have a HNC/HND?

Does this still make you eligible to join the final year of the Hons Degree?
confused

Greetings all,
Simon,
I am in the last four weeks of HNC study, so had a good look at the goodies inside the Eastwood Park information pack. Now I can understand that the Foundation aspect is relevent to me (and VRCT); however, having looked at the Kingston uni site I am puzzled as to which of the final year Hons Degree courses at Kingston would help me. In anticipation, Keith.

Alan,

Foundation degrees are vocational degrees specific to a particular subject if you have a look on the 'foundation degree forward' website it will give the background and the reason. If you currently have a HNC/HND then something called accreditation to prior learning would be used to allow you to bypass certain subjects that have allready been covered. If you have an HNC/HND and wish to jump directly onto an hons program then I suggest you discuss this direclty with a university, I am sure there are a number of degree courses which would take into account your current qualifications?

Foundation degrees are completely different in their structure and are specific to the students work role, they are however at the same level 4/5. I liken this course to open university in the workplace with a lot more emphasis on practical work and reflection.

Johnk,

We have discussed this with Kingston, currently you would be looking at one of their management, maths or science programs. They are also looking at developing a degree specific to medical technology which they would have to develop within two years.

To all- please note the are no upfront fees for this course.
