This is commercially confidential so I cannot say more.
But unfortunately it is a long way from being a Tricorder.

What I need to know is how much rf you can deliberately expose a person to. The transmitter is on the whole time so I am looking at long term, low level exposure limits.
Does anybody know what regulations apply in this situation?

Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,

Certainly sounds an interesting project, I wonder if there would be an issue with pacemakers ?

Hopefully this will be of use to you.

The only thing I know about RF safety goes back to the issue of health risks from mobile phone use. If the radiating frequency falls into the non-ionizing band ie RF rather than microwave & higher, the only requirewment is that the bulk heating effect of the RF should be below an internationaly agreed limit (which I don't recall).

Because the hazard is only tissue heating there is no concern about possible cumulative effects so there isn't a temperature/hours limit.

There are similar requirements, for the same reason for ultrasound energy.

RoJo, sounds like a respiratory rate monitor I've heard about...

I'm surprised no one's mentioned problems with RF interference with medical devices. Is that not a problem in the UK?
