Hi people

Anyone knows if there´s a RSS Feed for the forum? I´ve subscribed to the feeds on the front page, recent posts and recent topics, but i´m not sure these also refer to the forum.

Cheers

Hi Marcelo. Just to let you know that your blog is read and admired by biomeds here in the UK. Keep up the good work. Needless to say, you are most welcome to make contributions right here on the ebme website. smile

Hi Marcelo,
...and welcome smile

Yes as you worked out, the two feeds on the home page are from this forum.

I'll just second Geoffs comments, nice work with the blog.

While we're on the topic of RSS, guys ... anyone with any recommendations, comments etc. on which RSS Feeder is the one to use (ie, which one is best)? smile

Evening Geoff

I used to use a piece of software called Attensa that used to work in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook. Worked a treat until a certain Microsoft Security update installed and then things went a bit pear shape. Would not update and download the relevant feeds.

Anyway personally at the moment I just use the RSS Feeder built in and available with Internet Explorer 7 or on me laptop the Firefox Browser RSS capability. All free.

IE8 is pencilled in for Aug 08 and more enhancement on their RSS is planned.

All the best

Jeff

Hello Geoff, Huw

Thanks for the kind words about the blog, i´m trying to find some time to update it and surelly will.

About the feed reader, i´ve been using Google reader for quite some time and it has always given me everything i need.

Looks like I'll be sticking with the facilities that come with Firefox for the time being, then. My cursory look into RSS indicates that it's still a bit of a mess (lot's of different formats, etc.). It's a very useful, time-saving tool, but there's more to it than meets the eye.

For instance, check-out this RSS feed validator. Try entering the URL of your favourite website (this one, of course)! What is interesting is that it generates a bunch of source code for you to study (regardless of whether the site gives feed or not)!

Perhaps there are others out there who (like me) are interested in creating RSS feed (or have already done so, most likely). Any tips about this (hint: I don't want to start spending loads of money)? I'll get around to it, but probably not today! smile

Hello Geoff

Just for curiosity´s sake, why do you want to create feeds for? This is really a programmer thing (and i´m not one, mind you) and i can´t see much need for feed development. Some reasons:

All the blog/CMS/forum/etc software nowadays automatically create feeds in a variety of ways. And there´s always plugins to make specific changes in feeds without messing with the code (i´m a Wordpress lover and the community always have a solution for everything, but it´s also true for the majority of plataforms).

Also,Feedburner is the king of feed providers, and this means that the "errors" foun in feed validators really don´t matter because the feed will usually be burned in Feedburner.

And if you want to make mashups you can use Yahoo Pipes or similar services to develop your own personalizes feed (from other feeds, surely).
