Thanks to all those who answered my question, and thanks Huw for the other thread which I did not know existed!, should have done a search first!!
It all seems dependent on how much each trust is in debt, the more the charges , the more trust debt is!
The only thing which annoys me is that we all have to pay for bad money management , and those who are on 80 grand plus a year, just get a handshake and move on to the next trust , whoever will have them that is!and do the same thing over again.
Bring back the Matron ,she knew how to run a Hospital, not jumped up accountants and the like.

However rant over, and we must move on.

Cheers

Bob

I thought I heard something interesting on Radio4 this morning, can anyone else confirm what I thought I heard?
It was an article on the Welch removing parking charges from hospitals. I thought I heard a NHS confederation spokesman saying that only visitors should have to pay for parking and that charges should not apply to patients and staff. I believe he was referring to the whole of the NHS.
Was someone else concentrating on this and can clarify what he said?

As an aside does anyone know if private hospitals (who are often looking at ways of making money) charge visitors, patients or staff for parking?

Here is a quote from the story on the BBC News web site.

Health Minister Edwina Hart is expected to say: "Car parking charges fall heavily on people frequently attending NHS hospitals, whether they are patients, staff or visitors.

"They are at best an inconvenience and at worst an unfair expense."

I note this includes staff!!

Robert

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

So Welch (is that as in Allyn!!?????) are proposing dropping parking charges, very interesting. (I see your spelling and proof reading are still up to scratch Robert??).
Would this be a first if the NHS actually backed down and reverted to free parking for staff.

It's on the radio as I type this, and yes, it does include staff.
