If there's anyone out there in the UK who uses an alternative to Keymed as a maintenance provider for Olympus 'scopes, I'd like a chat with them please.

Ta!

Hello Rob. I too would like to find out as much as I can on this topic.

I've just been approached by a company called Telematic & Biomedical Services (TBS GB) - old name was GE "something!". TBS have said they can reduce my Trusts scope contract costs by 30% to 50% confused . If I feed this gift horse, what future manure will I get ninja ? Does anyone have any "views" on this subject?

Hello again. Just found another company that say they can maintain scopes. They are called "Microscopix Ltd" (in Herts). Has anyone used this company?

The then MDA issued a safety notice warning against using third party companies for the repair of flexible endoscopes. I think the issue was to do with using substandard materials for the biopsy channel.

Have tried searching on the MHRA website but can't find it, will have to resort to looking at my paper filing system. If I find the details I will post again.

Have found the notice SN9818, it refers to a company named Endoscope Services Limited undertaken non Keymed approved modifications when servicing scopes which could cause the scope to fail when in use.

I think the lesson to learn is to obtain assurances from 3rd party vendors that they can service and repair siad equipment to manufacturers original spec.

I should have said "flexible" endoscscope maintenance, but you knew that anyway wink

Bioman: yeah remember SN9818. Typical Keymed & MDA response though?

Anyone heard of/done any business with a company called TBS G.B. TELEMATIC & BIOMEDICAL SERVICES LIMITED, (based in Southend I believe!)GE subsidiary???

And also Phoenix?

Phoenix is well-established, and well-known in what we used to call the Home Counties. They provide a quality service, with a quick turnaround.
Not sure that they do flexible scopes, though. But check them out at http://www.ultramed.co.uk smile

Eddie,
We have used Microscopix for all our rigid scope repairs. Very professional, good service support, and user training on handling of scopes. smile
