LOLER has to do with lifting equipment (as in, equipment that lifts)!

Meanwhile, how about this one as a place to start? smile

Do you know - I get help on here a lot of the time, and then you hey presto you get the patronising aside - what may seem a trivial issue to some may be of importance to others! I do appreciate the general manual handling policies on health and safety, and I do in fact as a rule see that this is a very specific issue, but what I also want to do is ensure that the team I am responsible for are as safe as I can make them. The trolley we had and the working practices we followed were inadequate - we have duly altered them. Yes its a typical situation - its human nature to be stupid and overload - I am
(to much disgust) trying to prevent this -myself included!I didnt think there was a specific policy on trollies as much as I wondered if anyone had incorporated their use into a working policy for their service - my bad - I didnt word it particularly well which is clearly a sin on here! For those who have been constructive thanks! I have in fact done as suggested and drawn up something taking into account the weight that shouldnt be exceeded etc and the common sense aspects including reference to health and safety regulations. Its just nice sometimes to bounce ideas off other people!

Hey Eddie, did you get a PM about being "rude to women" as well (as me) then? I don't know (or much care) who has been complaining, but I do feel that I've been wasting my time in trying to steer people in the right direction.

People often come on here seeking help or advice. And I like to give both when I can. It's up to them to take it or leave it. It doesn't cost them anything. But it does cost me my time.

Let me say it loud and clear ... personally, I make no distinction between people posting on this forum. If people (of whatever gender ... and all the other categories that I couldn't care less about) can't take a bit of gentle banter, then it's a sad day indeed for this forum.

If women (or anyone else, for that matter) expect some sort of special treatment, then I suggest that their posts carry some sort of flag to that effect. Otherwise, how are we supposed to know who is who, and what is what?

May I humbly suggest that perhaps some people take themselves (and everything else for that matter) a bit too seriously. smile

JoLee,
In all seriousness, if you have concerns have you tried doing a risk assessment score and see how it comes out.
At least you can then log the assessment and vouch for your actions.

Soon we'll be needing to carry out a Risk Assessment before making a post on this forum! wink
